Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings officially make a trade
The Nashville Predators and the Detroit Red Wings have officially brokered a trade that involves two players and a 2024 second-round pick.
The Nashville Predators have officially traded Jesse Kiiskinen and a second-round pick to the Detroit Red Wings for Andrew Gibson.
TRADE: #Preds acquire D Andrew Gibson from #LGRW for Jesse Kiiskinen and a 2024 2nd round pick (#53)
The #Preds have acquired defenseman Andrew Gibson from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for forward Jesse Kiiskinen and Tampa Bay's second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Gibson was originally a second-round pick in 2023 and is only 19 years old. It is likely that he was a target of the Predators in the 2023 draft but the Red Wings picked him up before they could. He is coming off a strong campaign with the Soo Greyhound of the OHL scoring 44 points in 68 games as a defenseman.
Kiiskinen was also drafted in 2023 but in the third round and performed well in the Finnish Liiga scoring 10 points in 38 games.
