Multiple trades completed after the Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup
After the Florida Panthers won the 2024 Stanley Cup, three trades were officially completed with conditions dependent on who won the Stanley Cup.
Last night marked the end of the 2023-24 season with the Florida Panthers being crowned the eventual champions. They were not able to go all the way without some extra help that they traded for at the trade deadline. Of the key players they added, Vladimir Tarasenko and Kyle Okposo stand out as they were able to add key talent to the Panthers' bottom six.
When the Panthers moved for the pair, they had conditions in the picks which will now be getting upgraded.
Draft condition update:
The 2024 7th round pick #TimeToHunt sent to #LetsGoBuffalo in the Kyle Okposo trade WILL upgrade to a 2024 5th round pick.
Draft condition update:
The 2024 4th round pick #TimeToHunt sent to #GoSensGo in the Vladimir Tarasenko trade WILL upgrade to a 2026 3rd round pick.
Additionally, the Oilers had a conditional pick that was a part of the Adam Henrique trade that will not be getting upgraded.
Draft condition update:
The 2025 5th round pick #LetsGoOilers sent to #FlyTogether in the Adam Henrique trade will NOT upgrade to a 2025 4th round pick.
On top of these condition updates, Okposo will be earning a $500,000 bonus for winning the Stanley Cup which will be paid by the Buffalo Sabres.
Kyle Okposo will receive a $500k performance bonus for winning the Stanley Cup, which will also result in a $500k overage to Florida's 2024-25 cap.
Now that the offseason is officially under way, we will keep an eye out for more trades.
