The Minnesota Wild are still working the phones on Dylan Larkin, and according to Michael Russo of The Athletic, they are trying to change how the Detroit Red Wings view the trade.

Russo described the latest push this way:
The Wild I believe, according to sources, had another call with Detroit the other day, and were trying to convince them that...a futures deal...you could use these futures...to get other things.

What the Wild Are Selling

The idea is straightforward. Minnesota wants Detroit to treat picks and prospects as currency instead of a consolation prize.
Rather than demanding a roster player back, the Red Wings could flip those assets elsewhere and land the pieces they actually need.
It is a creative approach, but it faces resistance. Detroit has been described as wanting help that can contribute now, and Elliotte Friedman has said the Red Wings would likely ask for someone like Matt Boldy or Joel Eriksson Ek. Minnesota has shown little interest in that kind of swap.
Russo has also said the Wild would have to part with Danila Yurov or Charlie Stramel, and that Jonas Brodin is not a player they are eager to move.

Why the Persistence Matters

Another call suggests the Wild believe the gap can be closed with creativity rather than a roster player. Detroit sits in a tough spot, since interim GM Shawn Horcoff wants a return that helps now, yet the market has not produced one that checks every box.
The Red Wings have repeatedly signaled they want a swap built around current NHL talent, and reporting has said they could have moved Larkin already if they were willing to accept futures only. That makes this pitch a tough sell, but it also shows Minnesota is not walking away.
Larkin remains in Detroit for now, and the Red Wings hold the leverage. If another suitor arrives with a package closer to what they want, the Wild may find their futures pitch overtaken in a hurry.
