The divisional foe New York Rangers and New York Islanders have made a trade with one another today, and now the full trade details have been made public.
There was a trade today between two unlikely trade partners, as the divisional foe New York Rangers and New York Islanders have officially made a transaction with one another.
The Rangers traded Carson Soucy to the Islanders and in return received the Islanders' third round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft as confirmed by analyst Emily Kaplan.
For the Rangers, it's the first move in what could be many upcoming moves as evidenced by GM Chris Drury's letter to fans in which he said that players would soon be traded away.
Soucy was taken with the 137th overall pick by the Minnesota Wild in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and he's played for multiple teams, including the Wild, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks and Rangers.
So far this year, Soucy has eight points (3G, 5A) in 46 games played.
The Rangers Have Already Told Artemi Panarin He Will Not Be Back
One of the major moves still pending by the Rangers is where forward Artemi Panarin, who is a pending UFA at the end of the year, will be moved to.
Panarin was recently told by GM Chris Drury that he will not be brought back to the team that he signed with in 2019, and the Rangers will likely command a considerable haul in return for him.
The Trade Deadline this year is March 6, and Rangers fans can expect a flurry of moves between now and then aside from the trade freeze of the upcoming Olympic break in February.
