Colorado Avalanche Acquire Veteran Boston Bruins Star
The Colorado Avalanche have been busy on the trade market this year, especially in the last couple of days.
Colorado currently sits in 3rd place in
the Central Division, tied with the Minnesota Wild with 76 points.
After the deadline though, Colorado looks to be the favorite to pull ahead as they just acquired another key contributor from the
Boston Bruins.
This time it is 33-year-old center Charlie Coyle joining the club.
Coyle has 15 goals and 22 points in 64 games for the Bruins this year. He figures to be a bottom-six player for an Avalanche squad that is suddenly rather deep in their forward core.
That being said, the Avs did move out a forward in
Casey Mittelstadt as the return for the Bruins in the trade.
Mittelstadt has 11 goals and 34 points with the Avs this season, but he had been playing in the second line center position, which will now be taken by
Brock Nelson.
The Bruins also received a second round draft pick, and prospect
William Zellers as part of the return for Coyle.
This seems like a lot to give up for the veteran, who has one year left on his contract after this one, but it has proven to be a seller's market so far today.
Be sure to stay tuned for more trades as they trickle in.
