The Los Angeles Kings made a big trade today, acquiring forward Andrei Kuzmenko from the Philadelphia Flyers.
While it has been far from an incredible season for Kuzmenko, his pedigree of being a 39-goal scorer in 2022-23 still exists; he's a natural scorer with an incredible shot.
Per Elliotte Friedman, the undrafted free agent will be headed to the West Coast to join the LA Kings.
In exchange for Kuzmenko, the Philadelphia Flyers will receive a third round pick.
The Flyers will equally send a seventh round pick to LA in the deal.
This is Andrei Kuzmenko's fourth NHL team in just three years since signing as an undrafted free agent with the Vancouver Canucks in 2022.
He was initially traded by Vancouver in the
Elias Lindholm trade in 2024, and then again from the Calgary Flames to the Philadelphia Flyers last month in the deal for
Morgan Frost and
Joel Farabee.
After only seven games in Philadelphia, where he amassed a very healthy five points, he is headed back to the conference where his career began.
Kuzmenko has been accused of not being a well-rounded player, with minimal defensive effort making him a risk to have in the lineup when he's not scoring at an elite rate.
On the Kings, who are known to be very well-versed defensively, Kuzmenko could become a key piece.
In the last year of an expiring deal, we will see if this is it for the 28-year-old in the NHL, as a return to the other side of the pond is very possible.
