Team Canada has had to shake up their roster due to injury, and now, they've confirmed the replacement for Brayden Point following his injury.
The 2026 Olympic Games are officially here, and with teams now departing for the tournament, all eyes are on Team Canada as they finalize their roster through a tough period for injuries.
Recently, Sam Bennett was announced as a replacement for Anthony Cirelli on the team, and just days before the tournament begins, they have had to make yet another change involving the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Brayden Point out; Seth Jarvis in
Following an injury, Brayden Point's status for the tournament was up in the air, but now it has been confirmed he will miss the tournament after playing such a crucial role for Canada at the Four Nations Face Off.
This was a tough loss for Canada, but a brutal situation for Point, and while there was criticism over his selection due to Jon Cooper as the Head Coach, many were looking forward to him playing a key bottom-six role for Canada at the tournament.
While there are many potential replacements such as Mark Schiefele, Connor Bedard, Zach Hyman or others, this news was followed by the announcement of Seth Jarvis as the replacement for Point.
This season, Jarvis has 25 goals and 43 points in 48 games played for the Carolina Hurricanes, and while he isn't the exact same type of player as point, it's a very solid replacement choice for Team Canada.
With a loaded roster and the best depth at the tournament, even with late changes to the roster, Canada head to Italy as a major favourite, with the tournament beginning in just a matter of days.
