Tampa Bay Lightning terminate young prospect Ilya Usau
The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially terminated prospect Ilya Usau after a few disappointing seasons in the AHL and a new contract over in the KHL.
Back in 2022, the Tampa Bay Lightning brought in undrafted prospect Ilya Usau with the hope of him one day potentially playing for the Lightning in the NHL. He started off in the AHL in 2022-23 and that is where he stayed for the next two years scoring 19 points in 99 games.
Today it was announced that the Lightning have terminated Usau.
Lighting placed Ilya Usau on waivers. Unconditional.
Headed back to KHL I believe.

Usau, 22, Notched 7 goals, 7 Asissts, for 14 Points with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL
He was an Undrafted Free Agent signed by Tampa in 2022.
He will now likely head back to the KHL where he was playing before he was brought in by Tampa and most likely will spend the rest of his career overseas.
