It's official: the New York Rangers have hit the bottom of the barrel. Entering 2025, the team is in the final position in the Metropolitan Division, less than a year after winning the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the best team in the Eastern Conference.
The team will need to make major changes if they want to turn things around in time for the playoffs.
According to multiple analysts, general manager Chris Drury has his eyes set on one of the Vancouver Canucks' most interesting players: J.T. Miller.
Miller has been involved in plenty of rumors recently, partly due to his alleged feud with Elias Pettersson.
Darren Dreger and Paul Bissonnette shared their takes on the situation:
Miller, 31, was drafted by the Rangers in 2011 and it appears the team has shown a lot of interest in bringing him back to the Big Apple.
Enter the New York Rangers. Rumors suggest that GM Chris Drury is laser-focused on bringing J.T. Miller back to the Big Apple. According to insiders, Drury is reportedly willing to go to great lengths to make the deal happen.
It seems evident that either Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller will change teams soon if they can't work together.
Patrik Allvin, the Canucks' general manager, will have a tough decision to make. Keeping both of them seems to be his ideal plan, but if the Rangers make an offer he can't refuse to get Miller, the GM could change his mind.
