Jacob Markstrom is set to represent Sweden at the Olympics, and now his helmet reveal has shown off an emotional tribute to his late father.
The 2026 Olympic Games is arguably the most hyped up event in mens hockey history, with the return of best-on-best to the Games bringing with it immense fan excitement.
While Canada and the United States are considered favourites, there are many other teams pushing for Gold, with Sweden being among them after a commendable performance at the Four Nations Face Off back in 2025.
Jacob Markstrom reveals beautiful tribute
On Sunday ahead of the opening games of the tournament, Swedish goaltender Jacob Markstrom was at practice with the rest of his team, with Elliotte Friedman revealing an amazing photo of the goaltender at practice in his fantastic gear for the tournament.
However, a detail was then quickly pointed out, with the veteran net minder revealing his mask featured a beautiful tribute to his late father, who would have been incredibly proud of Markstrom for representing Sweden in the Olympics after NHL players being banned for over a decade from the tournament.
The details on the mask haven't yet been shown off by the veteran, and perhaps that's by design, but with big hopes for the tournament, Markstrom carries along a beautiful tribute for a highly anticipated event.
Markstrom and the rest of this Swedish team are set up for a great tournament despite the injuries that have hampered them leading into the event, but with experienced goaltending and a deep team full of talent, as of right now, this team represents a major threat to every other nation competing in the next few weeks.
