Hockey Community Shattered by Sudden Loss of Beloved Former Player and Coach at the Age of 45

The hockey world has received the unfortunate news today that beloved former player and coach Mike Betker has tragically passed away at the age of 45.
So, that's why it is always such a sad loss when somebody passes away who has donated so much time of their life to the game and people within and around it.
Mike Betker sadly died at the age of 45, and he will always be remembered to have had a totally positive attitude, a catch infectious smile, and enthusiasm for the sport of hockey.
Betker, who coached two youth hockey teams, was known for his positivity, selflessness and dedication. Andrew Lehman, an assistant coach, said he brought energy to the organization and inspired the other coaches.
He was able to make those around him step up to the challenge, either on or off the ice, and his legacy will never be forgotten. His passion for coaching and the ability to inspire people left an indelible mark on many lives.
"When he was coaching, you wouldn't know who was his kid. Every kid was his kid. And that was a very special quality of him."
"His wisdom was second to none, his personality was exuberant and his ability to be a fantastic friend will make him dearly missed by all of us that had the pleasure to work beside him at City Hall."
We believe we can speak for everyone when we state that Mike Betker will be deeply missed. His legacy will live on through the players he coached and the numerous lives he influenced. Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.
