The New York Rangers have already made multiple major changes to their roster, and were reportedly even considering dealing away veteran Chris Kreider - and now he's responding to the rumours.
The New York Rangers have already undergone several major changes to their roster thanks to the work done by general manager Chris Drury.
They not only sent their now-former captain Jacob Trouba packing to the Anaheim Ducks, but also traded away former 1st round draft pick Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.
When asked about his name being involved in rumours, Kreider instead said that's above his pay grade and that he's focused on the job in front of him.
I'm not privy to that information. I worry about what's right in front of me, and right now it's Winnipeg. I'm happy to be here, enjoyed my time here and I'll continue to try to help this team win hockey games.
My sense is that the Rangers are heading toward an eventual split with their longest-tenured player, Chris Kreider.
He's been on the trade block since Drury included his name in that memo, and while the rumors have quieted down in the months since, two people with knowledge of the situation told lohud.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, that New York remains motivated to move him.
The longest tenured player of any figure on the Rangers roster, Kreider has 22 points (18G, 4A) in 50 games this year, his 13th with the team.
