The Chicago Blackhawks made a big move at the trade deadline, and now Nick Foligno has seemingly called out former defenseman Seth Jones as a result.
After a very poor start to the season, the Chicago Blackhawks have been playing very well as of late, posting a 3-0-2 record in their last five before falling in a competitive matchup with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night.
Conveniently, this came on the back of the team acquiring goaltender
Spencer Knight in the deal that moved Seth Jones to Florida, with the 23-year old posting a 1.98 GAA and a .941 save percentage in three appearances with the team thus far.
Seemingly however, moving Jones out was a much bigger deal for this team, as captain Nick Foligno has taken a swipe at his former teammate after they battled hard to a 0-0 scoreline after two periods against Colorado.
«There's a cohesiveness with the group. We've gotten rid of some distractions, so to speak, and now there's a group that's trying to get better. Sometimes when you make hard decisions, they end up benefiting the group and you're seeing that.»
While Foligno didn't mention Jones by name, it's hard to ignore the comments coming on the heels of trading away Jones, with the veteran being very vocal about his displeasure with the team during his time in Chicago.
Unfortunately, the spark for Chicago comes too little, too late, as the team have no hope of climbing the ladder in the Central Division, but if they can add some talent in the off-season and retain this chemistry that they've built, it appears as though confidence is high in the room and they could become competitive, sooner rather than later.
