Former NHL defenseman Calvin de Haan is continuing his career overseas, as he's signed in the Swedish Hockey League with Rogle BK.

It looks like the tenure in the National Hockey League for defenseman Calvin de Haan is over, as he's decided to take things overseas.
Per multiple reports, he's signed a contract with Rogle BK of the Swedish Hockey League.
de Haan appeared in almost 700 NHL games after being taken 12th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
He played for the Islanders as well as the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers. He had 149 points (24G, 125A) in 679 career games.
Last year, he was traded from the Avalanche to the Rangers with Juuso Parssinen, and a pair of conditional draft picks for Hank Kempf, Ryan Lindgren, and Jimmy Vesey.
But upon his arrival in New York, he clearly didn't appreciate how he was being utilized by now-former head coach Peter Laviolette, who was fired after the team missed the playoffs.

Calvin de Haan blasted the Rangers for how he was utilized

Toward the end of last year, de Haan made his time with the Rangers brief but memorable based on comments he made in which he clearly voiced disapproval in how he was being utilized.
It might have just been a teleprompter answer, frankly, just welcome to the team, that kind of thing They alluded to the fact that I was part of a trade for a Ranger who was a good Ranger for a long time. I was told I was going to part of the team moving forward and get an opportunity.

de Haan will now have plenty of opportunities to battle for ice time in Sweden.
