The Wiesblatt family are incredibly inspiring, with some incredibly talented young hockey players, but tragically, one of the brothers lives has been cut short.
The Wiesblatt family have an amazing story, as their mother, who raised them while being deaf brought four boys, Ozzie, Orca, Oasiz and Ocean all to professional hockey, despite going through hardships of their own.
For all four, the path was different; some chose to head to the United States, others to the East Coast of Canada while a few stayed in the West and pursued a spot in the WHL, including Orca.
The 25-year old winger played four seasons with the hometown Calgary Hitmen in the WHL, and after splitting time between the SPHL and FPHL in the past two years, he was set to begin a season in the ECHL in 2025/26.
Tragedy strikes the Wiesblatt Family
Tragically however, tributes are now pouring in for the talented Orca, who was recently involved in a car accident that would take his life, with the family in mourning for their oldest son and brother, with the news hitting the entire hockey world very hard.
This is an absolute tragedy for an incredibly tough and inspiring family, who have already been through enough before now, with this tragedy simply adding more heartbreak to one of the most inspiring and tough families in the world of hockey.
We take this time to send our condolences to Orca's family, friends, teammates and anyone that was close to the lovely and hard working family, and we hope that they can find the strength to honour their son, brother and family member as time goes on.
Rest in Peace, Orca Wiesblatt.
