A major change is coming to local NHL broadcasts this season for six teams

Amazon Prime Video is set to become the exclusive local streaming destination for six NHL teams this season, the company announced Wednesday, in one of the biggest regional broadcast shakeups in years.

The Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues will all have their in market games streamed through Prime Video going forward.

This ends a scramble that started over the summer when Victory+, which previously carried Stars and Ducks games, reportedly missed payments to rights partners and shut down.

Fans in Dallas and Anaheim get the biggest perk, with Stars and Ducks games included at no extra cost for anyone who already has a Prime membership.

The other four markets won't be as lucky.

Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Wild and Blues games will run fans $19.99 a month or $99.99 for the full year, and viewers in those markets won't need a Prime subscription to sign up.

Each team can also air a set number of games over the air for fans who'd rather watch on regular television.

The Seattle Kraken have already been streaming their non national games on Prime Video since 2024, so this deal essentially triples Amazon's local NHL presence overnight.

Amazon can now offer in market streaming for 34 teams across the NHL, NBA, MLB and WNBA combined, either through direct deals with clubs or by carrying regional channels like NESN and Marquee Sports Network inside the Prime Video app.

The Wild, Blues, Blue Jackets and Hurricanes were already tied to the NHL's new centralized production setup announced in July, so pairing that with a streaming home gives all four franchises a full answer to the questions that lingered most of the summer.
