Jesse Puljujarvi was once the No. 4 overall pick in the NHL Draft of the Edmonton Oilers, but after years of failing to live up to the hype, he was moved to the Carolina Hurricanes last year, and has been out of the spotlight ever since.
This summer, Puljujarvi actually underwent hip surgery to get back to 100%, and while we've heard little about his return, TSN's Chris Johnston recently revealed plenty about it.
According to Johnston, the former Oiler is targeting a mid-December return to the NHL following the surgery, adding this to his comments.
However, like Patrick Kane, who also had summer hip surgery, Puljujarvi remains without a team, but at 25-years of age with 334 NHL games under his belt, he's likely to get another chance.
In 2022-23, Puljujarvi played in a combined 75 games, notching just five goals and 16 points, but if a team believes in him as a top player and supports him in that role, he's always had the talent, and now that he's healthy, landing in the right situation could be key to unlocking his true potential.
