Brett Pesce was rumoured to be of interest to the Edmonton Oilers who are looking to improve their defence in order to take the next step in trying to win the Stanley Cup.
Now, per Elliotte Friedman, it appears the Hurricanes have taken him off the trade market ahead of training camp.

In the past few seasons, the Oilers have struggled defensively. Luckily, they have been able to counteract that gap in their game through impressive offensive skills.
Pesce would have helped fill that gap. He is a top-pairing calibre defenseman who can log serious minutes against top matchups. It's this defensive reliability that the Oilers could have used last year to make the jump to the Stanley Cup finals.
