Robin Lehner has been left out of the training camp roster by the Vegas Golden Knights.
With Lehner not on the roster at all it is safe to assume he is not close to playing in his recovery. Often times injured players will still be listed on the roster and then later be revealed as out. If Lehner misses yet another season his career as a whole starts to come into question.
Lehner was a late bloomer as a star goaltender breaking out with the New York Islanders and then continuing his success on to Vegas.
With Lehner out the Golden Knights will once again have to find other options. Luckily for them, Logan Thompson had a fantastic rookie season in 2022-23. Their backup will likely be Adin Hill who was shown some good flashes of production.
Thompson in his first full NHL season played 37 games with a 2.65 goals-against average and a 0.915 save percentage. Hill on the other hand played 27 games with a 2.50 goals-against average and a 0.915 save percentage.
Even with Lehner continuing to be out the Stanley Cup Champs are going to be okay with their current goaltenders. It will be fascinating to see how Logan Thompson follows up on his great rookie year as the full-time starter.
