The Top Two Teams In On Phil Kessel Revealed
It looks like Phil Kessel will sign a contract before the season starts, and reports suggest two teams are in the derby.
Two Teams in the Derby for Kessel
Kessel shared earlier this summer that he wants to continue playing hockey for at least one more year. He also said that he doesn't mind being sidelined once in a while and would accept a bottom-six role.
NHL Trade Rumors suggested that two teams are interested: the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues.
A lot has happened in both of these franchises recently, and Kessel's addition could help them get back on the winning path.
Why Kessel in Calgary or St. Louis Makes Sense
The Calgary Flames recently lost their young forward
Jakob Pelletier after a shoulder injury.
Here is the hit Jakob Pelletier took. Hope he is ok!
With Pelletier out long-term, the Flames have a roster spot for Kessel, who could become a key figure on the team and help lead them to a Stanley Cup.
St. Louis could also use him. Their bottom-six isn't very strong, and they run most of their offense with their top-six. Inserting Kessel into their bottom-six could help them produce on the lower lines.
