The Vancouver Canucks have been off to a surprisingly great start in 2023-24, and after months of speculating around their trade plans, it appears things may have changed again.
Garland officially taken off the trade market?
According to a recent report, Conor Garland, who many believed was in his final months with the team has now been taken off the trade block, due to coach Rick Tocchet liking his game for this team.
"Sounds like the #Canucks are looking to move Anthony Beauvillier instead of Conor Garland now. [Coach Rick] Tocchet likes Garland's game. With [Teddy] Blueger nearing a return and [Nils] Höglander playing solid, there's a logjam up front."
That report states that Anthony Beauvillier instead will be the player this team are looking to move, and with a complex future, it's safe to say that they'll be looking to find some significant assets in return for him.
The veteran forward has impressed his Head Coach this season
As for Garland, many believed he was as good as gone coming into this season, and while he's tallied just 3 points in 13 games, he's had a significant impact for this team.
Ultimately, it appears they will need to make a few moves if they are to be considered a genuine Stanley Cup playoff threat, but with Elias Pettersson and this top-six flying, along with great defense and goaltending, if players like Garland can continue to step up, this will be a dangerous team.
