The National Hockey League has many coaches all of which operate in different ways with different systems.
In recent years, the shootout has become a lot more strategic than in past years and coaches usually have a strategy for it.
Some go with the players who have had a 'hot touch' lately, and some just go with players who have historically had success.
Well, then there is the St. Louis Blues and their head coach who has a very unique way of choosing.
During a media conference, he was asked about how he chooses his shooters and he gives the best answer ever:
We got... ummm...a hat, with names in it on the bench and I get Otter to pull them out one at a time.
Later he did admit that they look at data, but atleast he had a good sense of humour.
But if you think about it, every player in the National Hockey League was a scorer at one point in their career, so you really can't go wrong with a shooter.
