The one thing that has been missing from the Oilers organization for the last few seasons has been elite goaltending. They thought they filled that need this offseason when they signed Jack Campbell in free agency for a 5 year $25,000,000 contract.
Unfortunately though, Jack Campbell has been far worse than both of their goaltenders from last season. So far through 10 games, even though he has a 6-4-0 record, he has a .873 save percentage and 4.27 Goals against average.
He has been trying to 'find his game' since joining the Oilers and has shown flashes on occasion, but it's just been overall bad.
Tonight the Edmonton Oilers take on the surging New Jersey Devils who are looking for their 13th win in a row, many thought this would be the chance for Campbell to prove himself, but the goalie they are paying to be their starter, will not be the starter tonight.
The team has instead elected to go with Skinner, which sends a huge message to the confidence they currently have in Campbell.
We know Campbell has a tendency to get in his own head, and when he does, his play gets even worse. This team needs to come together to support him and so do the fans.
