On Wednesday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Lightning hit the ice to practice for their upcoming Game 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, they were without several important players, including Victor Hedman, Michael Eyssimont, Erik Cernak, and Ian Cole.
This absence poses a major concern for head coach Jon Cooper as he aims for a 2-0 series lead in the game scheduled for the following night.
During Game 1, Hedman sustained an undisclosed injury and did not play in the second period, ultimately ending his night early. Cernak, on the other hand, was hit in the head by Michael Bunting and is likely suffering from an upper-body injury. Bunting was ejected from the game and will face a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety later in the day.
Eyssimont also left the game early after a hit from Jake McCabe, and it remains uncertain why Cole missed practice as he did not show any signs of injury during Tuesday's game.
As a result, Cooper may need to enlist players from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL to fill in the gaps for Game 2.
