Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first game of their best of seven series, where the Maple Leafs were hoping to get some revenge on their game 7 loss last season.
Well, things did not go Toronto's way last night as the Tampa Bay Lightning throttled the Maple Leafs 7-3 in their own barn.
Midway through the second period, Maple Leafs Michael Bunting delivered a deliberate head check to Lighting's Erik Cernak, which rewarded Bunting with a Match-Penalty, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 5 minute powerplay, which they converted on.
It has been announced today that Michael Bunting will have a hearing for his hit on Cernak, which means a suspension is coming:
Toronto's Michael Bunting will have a hearing on Wednesday for an Illegal Check to the Head / Interference against Tampa Bay's Erik Cernak.
