The Montreal Canadiens have had quite the offseason, landing Juraj Slafkovsk with the first overall pick in the draft, and trading away fan favourite defenceman Alexander Romanov for the assets to bring in hopefully second line center and former 3rd overall pick Kirby Dach.
Last week they also made a surprise move bringing in Sean Monahan from the Calgary Flames and also got a 1st round pick out of the deal for nothing. Unfortunately though, we still have not had time to sit down and read the story book worth of conditions that come with that pick!
We were however, expecting to see a few more trades from the Canadiens by this point though, as the team is hoping for a shot at Bedard next season, and they have a few players on the roster who will definitely help them win games that other teams would sure like to have.
After Hughes traded away the contract of captain Shea Weber for forward Evgeny Dadanov, it appeared that he might be on the roster for the season, but recent reports are claiming that Hughes is already looking to trade the former 70 point scorer.
Dadanov is in the final season of a contract with a cap hit of $5,000,000. If the Montreal Canadiens are willing to retain some of that, a lot of teams would be interested in his services. The guy has shown he can produce on a consistent basis, unless he is playing on the Ottawa Senators.
