It was sort of an exciting summer for Boston Bruins fans. Don Sweeney spent it trying to bring back the 2011 Stanley Cup winning lineup bringing back former center David Krejci and re-signing captain Patrice Bergeron to give a 1-2 punch down the middle that was lacking last season.
One thing. that should be interesting to see how it pans out though is David Pastrnak, who is one season away from being a UFA and will be demanding a significant raise on his current contract. Pastrnak has been eligible to sign an extension since the opening of free agency this season, but there hasn't been any progress whatsoever and it appears that Bruins fans might need to be a little more concerned that we all originally thought.
Pastrnak did an interview recently and was asked if he was going to stay with the Bruins after this season and his answer is rather ominous.
Now I'm going into my ninth season and I haven't won anything yet. Time flies and I regret it every year. On the other hand, I'm healthy and I'm not worried about preparing for the new season, which I haven't been able to do in the last three years.
This definitely shouldn't sit well with Bruins fans. There was already a report at the beginning of the summer about Pastrnak not being happy with Don Sweeney after the firing of the Bruins head coach, and this doesn't seem to sound any better.
