One of the best free agents remaining on the market is veteran and future hall of famer Zdeno Chara, who is now 45. Rumours have been swirling this summer about whether Chara would retire or come back for another season.
We have seen some reports that he had already announced that he was retiring from hockey, while some reports are that he might be signing a PTO with some team.
I dont know about you, but with the Boston Bruins signing players to take one more run at a cup with their current group, I'd love to see Chara go back to his old team and try to be a part of another cup run.
Chara was the captain of the Boston Bruins for 14 seasons before he left because he was told he would be getting a much lesser role. He then went on to play for the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders.
A definite fan favourite, fans would love to see Big Z make a return to the Bruins and the reports are that he was seen in the Bruins arena.
'I want to be low-key.» former Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara told me as he walked from Warrior Ice Arena, where the Bruins were holding a captain's practice. Chara has not decided on playing this season, but speculation is he may play his final career season with the Bruins joining old teammates David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron.'
Unfortunately though, it sounds like it was just a social call:
