REPORT: One person cost Evan Rodrigues $8,500,000 in free agency - He is PISSED
The 29-year-old Evan Rodrigues joined the NHL as a un-drafted player, after lighting it up in college with his former teammate Jack Eichel for Boston University.
It took a few seasons to really establish himself in the National Hockey League, but last season, Rodrigues had a breakout year for the Penguins, putting up 19 goals and 43 points.
Heading into free agency as a UFA, Rodrigues was hoping to really cash in on his career high season and get a long-term contract. Unfortunately though, after months of being in free agency, he was forced to sign a one year deal with the Colorado Avalanche at just $2,000,000.
It is now being reported though, that Rodrigues had another offer on the table that his agent advised against and it costed them both big time.
According to Frank Seravelli, Rodrigues had received an offer early in free agency, but his agent convinced him not to take it.
Frank Seravalli on Sportsnet 960 said that Rodrigues was offered a 3-year, $10.5M contract at the beginning of free agency that he passed on, which led to changing his agent.

Let's just hope that he continues to score as a member of the Avalanche and can hit it big next season!
