This season no one has expected what is happening with the Boston Bruins. They started the season old and injured and despite this, they've absolutely dominated all season long.

At the time of writing, they are first place in the league with a record of 43-8-5, with a 9 point lead over the Carolina Hurricanes who are in second place.
At the trade deadline, many teams look to bring in players to improve their roster, but when a team is humming along as well as the Bruins are, bringing in a big name player, may upset the chemistry of a team that is practically unbeatable this season.
But despite this, the Boston Bruins have had their name in on some of the biggest trade candidates this season, but one of the lesser known names is what the Boston Bruins are close to trading for.
The Bruins are looking at bringing in some defensive depth, and the Columbus Blue Jackets are the trade partner:
Vladislav Gavrikov Watch 2023 may be nearing the finish line. Per source, #CBJ & #NHLBruins have the framework of a trade in place (talk of a 1st/3rd in package), but Boston has to clear cap space. One player I'm told they're shopping is F Craig Smith. However #CBJ won't wait forever. It's understood that if another team swoops in with a competitive/better offer, they could go that route. Ball (or puck) is in Boston's court as they try to make the $ work. Adding Gavrikov could surely eliminate Boston from the Chychrun talk

Gavrikov is a 6th round pick by the Jackets back in 2015, but has developed into a good second or third pair defenceman:
