Last night the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche, in what finished as a 2-1 overtime victory for the Penguins.
The Avalanche have been one of the teams who have been hit with injuries the hardest this season, and fans were clenching their teeth as they watched their star defenceman take a shot to the head from a Penguins forward.
During the third period, Makar goes to play the puck around his net and Penguins center Jeff Carter came across the ice and delivers a check that was clear shoulder to the head.
Cale Makar immediately hit the ice, but for some reason no penalty was called on the play. Even the announcers were pissed with the play:
Cale was able to later return to the game, but he was forced to leave due to concussion protocol.
