New Team Enters The Patrick Kane Sweepstakes
NHL legend Patrick Kane has had quite the storied career. He has yet to play this season due to offseason surgery but he is looking to make a comeback to the NHL as he weighs his options. Several teams have been linked to him but now a new contender has joined the list of rumored destinations for the American winger.
Carolina Hurricanes Enter Kane Rumors
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman made an interesting comment on 32 thoughts today. While he could not confirm specific details, he threw out the Carolina Hurricanes as a potential landing spot for Patrick Kane.
Friedman talking Patrick Kane on 32TP: "We're talking about where he could end up, I'm wondering if Carolina is in on this"
Florida Panthers May Be Favorites For Kane
If Carolina thinks they can just swoop in and sign Kane without any resistance from other teams, they are mistaken. Since the season started, Kane has been rumored to be interested in several teams including the Panthers, Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Sabres, Stars, and Rangers.
This is the first hint of any kind that Kane may also be considering the Hurricanes. The news throws a wrench into the already complicated enough rumors. NHL insider Kevin Weeks reported today that he believes the Panthers are the favorites to land him.
"I asked a lot of people about this, including two people very close in the Kane camp. I can say that the Leafs are among the teams that have showed interest... I think the Flordia fit would be nice for him. Florida Panthers. The reason why is whether he's playing with...
Matthew Tkachuk...
Carter Verhaeghe or Barkov I just think there's some really good fits for him."
Kane is reportedly interested in playing a prominent role on a winning team. The Hurricanes may be able to offer him that, but their style of rolling four lines may be seen as a negative.
