The San Jose Sharks are in the midst of the largest rebuild in franchise history. After finishing 29th in the standings last year they could be even worse as their two best players, Timo Meier and Erik Karlsson, have both been traded to eastern conference teams. As such, rumors have been surrounding the organization for awhile as to who will be next on the trading block.
Teams Interested In Couture
It would seem that the next major player to leave the bay may very well be the team's captain, Logan Couture. Reportedly, several teams including the Predators, Capitals, and Bruins have already inquired about the 34-year-old center's availability.
A trade involving Couture would likely be quite complicated. First off, he is currently injured. This is likely not a big deal as he is reportedly close to returning and the trade deadline is still months away.
That being said, Couture is on a serious contract with lots of term left. The 34-year-old will turn 35 in March and he still has three years left on his deal after this one. He also carries an 8 million dollar cap hit. He also has a modified no-trade-clause that allows him to select three teams he is willing to be traded to. As such, he will almost certainly have to waive this clause in order for a trade to happen.
