Mikhail Sergachev has publicly dissed the Maple Leafs.
Sergachev Disses Leafs
In a recent interview with Sport24, Mihail Sergachev opened up about the Tampa Bay Lightning's round-one loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A seasoned playoff veteran, Sergachev knows what it takes to win a cup and he clearly does not find the Leafs first-round victory that impressive.
Sergachev: "I don't want to put any pluses on Toronto now, they didn't deserve them."
Interviewer: "Why don't you want to put Toronto pluses?"
Sergachev: :Well, why? I don't think they deserve much."
Interviewer: "For the first time in 19 years, the first round was passed!"
Sergachev: "Well done here, they went through the first round, but did not go further. So I don't see any reason to rejoice here."

The Leafs First Round Victory
In the Maple Leafs' six-game series victory over the Lightning, four games went to overtime showing how close things were.
While Toronto won, the Lightning battled injuries with many top players leaving the series prematurely.
Nonetheless, Sergachev is a player with multiple Stanley Cups so he may know a thing or two about what it takes.
This "if you're not first, you're last" mentality from Sergachev is common amongst championship players and may be something the Leafs are missing.
