The Erik Karlsson sweep stakes continue as another major piece has been identified.
The reigning Norris-winning defenseman has been fetching a lot of attention league wide and the Pens have appeared as a team heavily interested in the Swedish player.
Jeff Petry is an interesting name out there for the Sharks as he is making $6.25 million per season for the next two years making it so the Sharks do not have to retain any of Karlsson's contract.
The 35-year-old defenseman put up a respectable 31 points in 61 games played last year.
Among the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Carrolina Hurricanes are another team interested however the Sharks would have to retain some of Karlsson's cap hit to make it work.
There is also speculation that the Oilers and Leafs could be interested in now the 3-time Norris trophy winning defenseman but it remains unknown where Erik Karlsson will start the season come the fall.
