Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe throws players under the bus following embarrassing loss to Sabres
Let's face it, when you have a power house Toronto Maple Leafs playing against a bottom feeding Buffalo Sabres team, you expect fireworks in the favour of Toronto, and with Matthews scoring at the rate he has been, you would have expected minimum a hat trick from him right? Well, that was definitely not the case last night.
The Sabres beat the Maple Leafs 5-2 in a pretty sad looking game for the Leafs, which gave the season series to the Sabres at 3-1-0.
After the game head coach Sheldon Keefe said he is very glad he doesn't need to play against the Sabres again this season.
''It wasn't good. We've been no-shows in all four games.» You wish that you didn't have nights like this, but reality is lots of teams have nights like this, which is why not a lot of teams have 100 points like we do. ''
Keefe on the Sabres: "Four games against this team and all no shows."— James Mirtle (@mirtle) April 13, 2022
There have been quite a few press conferences lately where Keefe is calling out his players, saying they're not good enough. I understand wanting them to play at their best, but at what point do the players stop playing for him.
Keefe did end the press conference on some positives, stating:
«We'll push past this, we don't have to play Buffalo anymore this year.»
Which I don't know if that is really that encouraging, but it's something.
