After the Penguins season ended giving up a 3-1 lead to the New York Rangers, many wondered if this was it for the Penguins trio of Crosby, Malkin and Letang.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made an offer to Letang but according to Sportsnet's hockey insider Elliotte Friedman Letang and the Penguins are very far from a deal and as of now ''not at all on the same page''. This offer was 4 years at around 7.25 million annually. Which in my personal opinion is a very good deal for Letang, and is much better than the 3 years 15 million that they originally offered to Malkin and Letang.
Several insiders believe that Letang will likely go to Montreal. Letang has already stated that the Canadiens would probably be his second choice after the Penguins.
Until Letang puts pen to paper take it with a grain of salt. In any case it appears that Kris Letang will be free to sign wherever he pleases when free agency begins.
The question remains also with the Canadiens in rebuild is a 35 year old Letang who's in a decline fit in unless it's a mentor type role to help the young kids on the Canadiens Defence.
