Kevin Hayes calls out teammates after tough loss to Sabres
This season had so much hope for the Philadelphia Flyers coming into it. They made some huge offseason moves to bring in Ryan Ellis, Rasmus Ristolainen, Cam Atkinson, Keith Yandle, Derick Brassard, Justin Braun, then when you consider another year of development for youngsters like Konecny, Frost, Farabee, Sanheim, Lindblom, Provorov and Carter Hart, you'd think they would have been a slam dunk for the playoffs right?
Well, wrong. A season plagued with injuries derailed this team and they could just never recover. Ryan Ellis has only played in 4 games, Sean Couturier in 29, Kevin Hayes in 42 and many others who missed games throughout the year, which this team could just not recover from. This also led to the team trading away long time captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers.
After Sunday's loss, one of the remaining leaders Kevin Hayes was not happy with his team's play and had this to say:
"Everyone's in a different position I feel like. There should be motivation, it's the NHL. We get paid millions of dollars to show up and perform at our job. And if you can't find motivation, you shouldn't be on the ice,"
With only a few games left for the Flyers this season, it will be important for the Flyers to finish on a high note for confidence as their will definitely be some moves made this summer!
