The Colorado Avalanche are one of the best teams in the league and with the trade deadline approaching they'll be looking to get even better. The Avalanche are currently ranked 3rd in the NHL and have the 2nd most goals scored by any team in the league, but that doesn't mean their offense is potent enough. The Avs have had trouble beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs over the past few years, so adding some insurance is high on their list of priorities.
On today's edition of the the 32 Thoughts Podcast Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek linked the Avalanche to two upcoming free agent forwards.
Friedman:
"Colorado could use a right-hand shot, who couldn't use Claude Giroux? The biggest challenge I have with that is can you make the math work?
If Claude Giroux wants to go chase a Stanley Cup that's a team you go to, one, and two I see a fit there."
Jeff Marek:
"Marek throws out Joe Pavelski's name as well as a possible fit with the Avs."
As the NHL Trade Deadline approaches we will likely hear more of these names being linked to more teams.
