Gary Bettman, the National Hockey League (NHL) Commissioner, is facing an awkward situation as a video of him imploring fans to vote in favor of a new arena for the Arizona Coyotes in Tempe has been released, presenting a negative image for the league.
Reportedly, the video was produced in collaboration with the group TempeWins in an effort to gain support from fans for the Coyotes' new Entertainment Center in Tempe. Although the location had already been approved by the Tempe City Council, it was subjected to a community vote to confirm the construction of the facility.
In the video, Bettman asserts that the NHL has been extremely supportive of the Arizona Coyotes hockey team. However, he fails to address the difficult times faced by the team in Arizona, including changes in ownership, financial struggles, and insufficient fan support. Instead, Bettman emphasizes that the new arena is the only outstanding component required for the success of the Coyotes.
