Former NHL All-Star, Brad Maxwell, has passed away at 66 after losing his battle with cancer.

Maxwell Passes Away

It was announced last night that Brad Maxwell, a Minnesota North Stars icon and former NHL All-Star passed away at 66 years old after losing a battle with lung cancer.
Maxwell's family had set up a GoFundMe to pay for his treatment but they informed the world that he had passed away.
"We want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to us during this difficult time. It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Brad «Maxy» Maxwell on September 3rd, 2023. Those who knew him were truly lucky, and he will be deeply missed. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,"

Maxwell's Playing Career

Maxwell had a lengthy playing career and spent most with the Minnesota North Stars. He spent the first eight years of his career with them before being moved to Quebec. After this move, he bounced around a bit and played for the Nordiques, Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Rangers before coming back to Minnesota to finish his career.
His best year was in 1983-84 where he scored 73 points in 78 games as a defenseman. He was known for being a phenomenal powerplay quarterback and was a prototype for the modern-day NHL defenseman.
