Could we see a KHL vs NHL crossover?

According to Andrew Zadarnowski of the SB Nation's blog Eyes on the Prize the NHL and KHL are currently in negotiatings for the KHL to host the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning for several exhibition games against some of the KHL's Russian teams.
Zadarnowski also shares the target date is September of 2022, with the main draws being Alex Ovechkin and Nikita Kucherov.
These rumours continue to go back as far as 2020 when Elliotte Friedman mentioned looking into similar conversations.
This would be a great step for the advancement of the game overseas as fans would love watching their countrymen on their home soil.
