Connor McDavid is known for his calm temperament and relatively dry personality. That wasn't the case last night after a controversial no-goal call nearly cost the Oilers their win against the Blackhawks.
McDavid Speaks Out
Following Edmonton's 2-1 win over Chicago, reporters picked McDavid's brain over the no-goal call that happened during the middle of the game. McDavid seemed relatively upset with the entire process and called out both the referees and the NHL for the call.
"If it takes you 15 minutes to determine if it's offside or not, it probably doesn't matter you zoom in, you keep zooming in until you can't zoom in any more, I guess it's offside... these are calls that change games."
This is a bit out of character for McDavid, who likes to lay low and stay out of drama. If even his frustration is getting to a breaking point, perhaps it's time the league takes a look at how they review calls.
Fans Agree With McDavid
It seems that fans of the team seem to agree with the sentiment their captain put out, expressing their discontent with the NHL on social media following the review.
As a oilers hater, he's 100% right. I do not care if my team would benefit from it, some of these offside reviews are out to lunch and not in the spirit of the rule. Set a replay speed, set a time, if you can't determine it in that space then it does not matter.
