Canadiens Forward Still Not Cleared to Play Months After Major Surgery
One of the Montreal Canadiens' top forwards has not been cleared to play for the upcoming season despite months of rehab.
Dvorak Sits Out
The Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes revealed some grim news today regarding center Christian Dvorak.
"Kent Hughes says everyone clear to start with Habs, except for Christian Dvorak, who has to go through his medical and meet with his surgeon one more time."
Dvorak played 64 games last season with the Canadiens where he scored 10 goals and 28 points.
The Kotkaniemi Replacement?
Dvorak was initially traded to the Montreal Canadiens after Jesperi Kotkaniemi signed an offer sheet in Carolina. The compensation for the Kotkaniemi offer sheet was a 1st and a 3rd round pick.
The 1st was subsequently flipped to Arizona along with a 2024 2nd round pick for Dvorak who has not been worth a 1st and 2nd round pick.
Dvorak has registered 61 points with the Canadiens in 120 games which is not too terrible.
Kotkaniemi on the other hand has 72 points in 148 games. While these numbers are roughly the same as Dvorak's both hovering around .5 ppg, Kotkaniemi was 21 and 22 when he put up these stats while Dvorak was 25 and 26 putting up his numbers.
If Kotkaniemi can continue to take the necessary development steps any NHL player needs to make, this Marc Bergevin blunder may be one of the worst of his tenure.
