Clayton Keller was a shining light in Arizona this past season, and through all of the drama and the criticism surrounding the arena, he pushed through for a career year.
With so much young talent coming through in the coming years, Keller is the perfect leader of the Coyotes, with many now believing he could be a captain of the future.
In 2022-23, he registered an impressive 37 goals and 86 points for a struggling team, but when the off-season hit, rumours began swirling that the young forward had requested a trade from the team.
Now, Keller has been asked directly about it, and he's made it clear that it's just not true and that he is committed to making it work with this current group that's full of young, up-and-coming talent.
Have you demanded a trade? Is the Nylander for Keller rumor true? Can we finally put that to rest?
Keller: (chuckles) Yeah no that's not true. I'm just focused on myself and the team here and I just love this group of guys and this is where I want to be right now.
At this point, there's still the potential that Keller ends up elsewhere in the next few years, but he's made it clear to management that he wants to be in Arizona, and for their rebuild to have a face like this, they should consider themselves very lucky indeed.
