There are many stories shared of the struggles being shared by the Ukrainian people during the current Russian Invasion. Those stories though, aren't the only stories out there. Today the Globe & Mail shared the story of a Canadian hockey player who is currently trapped in the Ukraine.

Eliezer Sherbatov, is an Israeli-Canadian hockey player, who currently left wing for HC Mariupol in the UHL. Thursday morning he was woken up by a large blast around 5 am.
It was close. Everything was fine until this morning. Then, boom!

Sherbatov, grew up in Montreal and he played three seasons in the QMJHL. His love of the game has taken him all over Europe where he continued to play the game he loves.
While some of his teammates have told Sherbatov he should stay put, he realizes that those players are mostly Russian. Instead, of taking their advice he has opted to try and make his way to Poland.
I am absolutely afraid for my life. This is no joke. I have thought about the choice I made to come here. I am having the ‘should have, could haves.'

I just wanted to play hockey.

I have been writing the Canadian government but I have gotten no answers. I have asked what I should do. ‘Is the embassy open?' ‘Can someone please help me?'

I get no help.

This is another sad story of those impacted by this unnecessary war. Hopefully everyone involved makes it home safe to their families.
