Tonight, a new report from NHL insider David Pagnotta has revealed the asking price set for goalie Connor Hellebuyck by the Winnipeg Jets.
The Winnipeg Jets have reportedly been shopping Vezina trophy winning goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for much of the summer.
At one point, the Jets were deep in trade talks with the Buffalo Sabres on a trade centered around Hellebuyck and the fourth overall pick heading back to Buffalo.
At the time, the entire trade package beyond that was unknown but a new report from insider David Pagnotta has brought to light what the Sabres offered that was rejected.
Insider revealed trade package offered by the Sabres for Connor Hellebuyck
In a new report, insider David Pagnotta confirmed that the Sabres were expected to offer the fourth overall pick, Jack Quinn, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, and another asset of some kind.
The pricetag, just a little bit too high...for Buffalo; it sounded like...the 4th overall pick, UPL, a player who I believe might be Jack Quinn and perhaps another ask
This is where things fell apart as the Jets were wanting more than the Sabres were willing to pay for Hellebuyck.
Hellebuyck, 32, is coming off of one of the worst seasons of his career in the NHL even though he still played well for the Jets who were a bad team.
Prior to that, Hellebuyck won a pair of Vezina Trophies and the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP as well.
It remains unclear whether the Sabres and Jets are still engaged in trade talks or if the Jets have moved their focus to other teams in their efforts to offload Hellebuyck.
As more information is given on Hellebuyck's future with the Winnipeg Jets and beyond we will pass all of the latest news along to you.
