Tom Wilson has received plenty of backlash for his hit on Filip Chytil, but now, Connor Carrick has confirmed a major rumour about Wilson's physical play.

Over the past few days, the major talking point around the NHL has involved Filip Chytil and Tom Wilson, with the latter laying out a very physical hit that has some worrying about Chytil's future in the National Hockey League.
Some have labelled it late or a blindside hit, while others call it a good hockey hit, with the NHL confirming that there will be no discipline for him, but either way, it's drawn Wilson even more criticism after years of being the Capitals physical force.

One thing that some have used to defend Wilson is the speculation that before laying a hit on someone, he will call them out and tell them it's coming, with Head Coach Spencer Carbery confirming that.
Obviously, Carbery has reason to be bias towards his veteran forward, but now long-time NHLer Connor Carrick has also confirmed the news with a story about hitting Wilson in his first professional season, earning him a full-time role at the highest level.
Does this completely absolve Wilson of any guilt over the injury that Chytil sustained? Likely not, but at the very least, the veteran is clearly consistent with how he goes after everyone in the NHL, and this time, it just so happened to be on someone with a history of head injuries.
Ultimately, this wasn't a dirty hit from Wilson, but it wasn't a necessary one either, and even with Carrick confirming the rumours about the Capitals veteran, it still doesn't make this hit look any better in retrospect.
