Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin enjoyed a heartwarming proud father moment, as his son Sergei scored four goals during the annual Ovi Cup game in Russia.

Plenty of Russian NHL stars were on hand at Mytishchi Arena in Moscow for the annual "Ovi Cup" game featuring Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin.
For the elder Ovechkin, he experienced a proud father moment watching his son Sergei score 4 goals during the friendly competition, including a pair of goals on New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin.
Among the other players who took part were Matvei Michkov, Mikael Sergachev, Evgeni Malkin, Kirill Kaprizov, and former NHL forward Pavel Datsyuk.
One of Ovi Jr.'s goals was a pure snipe:
Ovechkin expressed his pride in Sergei's hockey journey while also saying his second son Ilya may have a similar path.
Of course, I am happy for my son, I see his progress, as well as Ilya's. We will do everything so that Sergei continues in the same spirit. Many thanks to the participants. They came at the first call. This is a holiday for children. Next year will be much better.

Ovechkin is coming into the upcoming season with only a year left on his contract, and many are wondering if it could be his last in the NHL.
Ovechkin will turn 40 years old next month, and though he showed he can still play at a high level by scoring 44 goals last year, Father Time remains undefeated.

Alex Ovechkin is now the leading goal scorer in NHL history

Earlier this year, Alex Ovechkin broke a record that most thought would be impossible for anyone to do.
He became the leading goal scorer in the history of the NHL, overtaking Wayne Gretzky's mark of 894 goals set in 1999.
Coming into this year with 897 goals, the record is now Ovechkin's for the foreseeable future. Currently, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is next on the list of active players with 625 goals.
