Canadiens Goalie Jakub Dobes Trolled After Surprise Instagram Post Sparks Reactions

The Montreal Canadiens took a huge leap forward in 2024/25, making the Stanley Cup Playoffs despite pre-season predictions, and a big reason for that was their surprise level of goaltending.

While it was Sam Montembeault that shouldered the load, the emergence of rookie Jakub Dobes certainly didn't hurt, as he posted a 2.74 GAA and a .901 save percentage in his first National Hockey League season.

There's certainly plenty more improvement for him, but in one of the biggest hockey markets in the world, he's got the chance to be a star, so much so that the team handed him a two-year extension, and he's showing that off this summer.

Recently, the 24-year old posted an Instagram ad for a sponsor, and while it seemed innocent enough, his teammates couldn't get enough of it, with the likes of Patrik Laine, Arber Xhekaj and others chiming in to troll the young netminder.

His teammates kept their roasts nice and simply on Instagram, as Xhekaj simply posted laughing emojis while Laine posted 'Jesus Christ man', much to the delight of Canadiens fans who were loving the interactions.

Simply put, players and especially veterans wouldn't be doing this to players they don't like, so this is certainly a show of love from them to Dobes, and while the young goaltender has a bright future in the NHL, it's safe to say that his skills as an influencer may need some work.
